Pressotherapy is a physical therapy that uses continuous pressure on one or several body areas by means of an inflatable chamber adaptable to the body inside of which air is injected to generate a positive pressure. The objective is to stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation which in turn causes the elimination of retained fluid in fat cells, the main cause of “orange peel skin” or cellulitis.
Its operation is based on two principles: on the one hand the pressure stimulus (at a certain intensity that should not be excessive) promotes the passage of interstitial fluid into the blood capillaries and lymphatic vessels; on the other hand, the massage that is produced facilitates the venous and lymphatic circulation.
The treatment is performed 2 to 3 times a week and the number of sessions depends on the specific needs of each patient.
